4. Revisiting the colonies

Our 5 days to Alghero was an exciting experience for Becky and Annabelle who usually work at Romney House. Our first stop was to see my cats and dogs at the villa. How happy they were to see us! As you can see big smiles from max and Bertie!

We spent 2 whole days cleaning cat houses, blankets, bowls , cat kennels and lots more!

A new addition to the dog family. Little Honey (Miele) just turned up in the garden and surprisingly was accepted by Max, Bertie and Tasha. Very sadly, her mother, father brother and sister had been found dead poisoned by the local shepard. We were desperate for her not to get out of the garden and take a chance of the same happening to her.
The first thing for her was to be neutered. We all fell in love with her and were very happy to have her join the Gallante cats and dogs.

A miracle happened. When we had taken her to vets for her op, a lovely couple had just had their old dog die and were about to go to the pound to get another. We showed them Honey and they fell in love with her. It was a very tearful day for all!.

Disaster struck last month. A kitten that I had rescued on my last visit unknowingly had Enteritus. Because they were so poorly when I found them, they were not able to be vaccinated. unfortunately, the virus spread and poor `martina found 4 dead then another 3 the next day then every day another. she desperately tried to stop the spread but it was impossible. 12 of my lovely cats died an awful death as it kills within hours.
These 2 lovelies were 2 of the lucky ones. Close to death but made it!
