Please sponsor a special cat
Meet some of the permanent residents who really need your support.
If there isn't enough room in your life but you would still like to adopt or rescue a cat for yourself or as a gift for someone, let us know by completing a sponsorship form & Standing Order form if applicable (sponsor a Mog - minimum £10). We will send you a certificate, a photograph & reminder of how you have helped to save & improve their lives. We will always consider offers of homes for these very special cats, but otherwise they are free to live indefinately around the grounds of Romney House.
Sponsorship - A feel good gift that benefits more than just one personality - take a look
Pearl
Pearl was one of the first feral cats at Romney House, arriving with her 3 kittens approx 7 years ago. She hid them from view but they had to be separated from her every day to get them used to being handled.. Pearl hated this time and was very aggressive but it paid off as the kittens became friendly and were homed as domestic pets. Pearl was released and she lives in the fields not coming too close to strangers!
Maddie
Maddie came from another rescue centre as a feral mum with her young daughter. Sadly, she lost her kitten but Maddie made lots of friends and shares a happy free life in the fields. She does not come too near humans though!
Oscar
Persians do tend to be 'high maintenance' cats as the breeding of flat faces has led to chronic eye and respiratory problems. Along with that, their fur needs constant attention to keep it sleek and glossy. You can imagine what Oscar looked like when he was found living in a dumped settee in the Iceland car park! He was hardly recognisable as a cat with matted fur and discharging eyes and nose! He is getting on a bit now so tends to sleep away the day in his favourite spot.
Lizzie
For 5 years Lizzie lived on the top of the kitchen units because there were 2 dogs in the house and she was scared! She was fed up there and even had a litter tray so she did not have to descend to the floor! Eventually her owner decided to rehome her with a friend - she only had a little dog! Lizzie didn't care how big it was, she was up aloft as quickly as she could scramble. After not having been on the floor for so many years, she still needs a high perch although she does come down now!
