...Woolly cat toys
A small wooly toy can be great fun & even a comfort to cats of any age.
Why wool? Wool is a natural material that cats often respond well to. Sometimes the smell of synthetic material can deter a sensitive nose or a nervous disposition. The smell of clean wool often seems to have a comforting effect, & it often initiates play instincts.
Never give balls of wool for kittens or cats to play with, never leave them laying around!
Animals can become dangerously entangled in lengths of any material, the toys described on this page are a safe alternative woolly toy.
These can be made at home yourself & you can be as creative as you like. From small pom poms to knitted mice, cats can be left alone to play with its prey.
The cats & kittens that spend day after day in pens & enclosures waiting for new homes, love to have woolen toys to play with.
Comfortable bedding & something to play with can make a huge difference to animals. As well as this, many cats & kittens become quite attached to their bedding or toys. Heres how to make your own familiar toys, any time you need a new one.
Bedding, toys & blankets need continual cleaning at Romney House, this can take its toll on the materials. As well as this, many of the cats & kittens become quite attached to their bedding or toys. To help ease them into their new homes they often take their familiar things & or comfort blankets with them.
More of the very kindly knitted bedding, blankets or toys, would always be gratefully appreciated by the cats at Romney House

All you will need is thick twine, scissors, a large needle & wool
Cut a length of twine, and twirl the wool around it
The toy will begin to take shape already
Loop the wool wrapped twine back on itself, and continue warping around the ends
You could add other colours here, or thread them through the toy later
